I’m a lover of literature, film and translation who studied Comparative Literature and Translation at the University of Hong Kong. I’m also interested in photography and graphic design. As a flâneuse (the French feminine noun of flâneur – the keen-eyed wanderer and observer of city life), I wander around the city observing it.
One of my favourite literature is Le Petit Prince written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. It has been translated into more than 250 languages and dialects all over the world since its first publication. I’m now collecting different translations of the classic and wish one day I could translate it from French into my mother tongue.
Besides Le Petit Prince, I’m attached to France because of cinephilia. The Lumière Brothers are the pioneers of cinema, whose invention of the motion picture camera made a major contribution to the film industry. Lumière is the French word for light; my name CaLight, coincidentally, contains the word “light”.
Art brings enlightenment to the world. As literature and film shed light on human life, I, by the name of CaLight, also wish to light up the world, even though it is just a glimmer of light.
